About Business Licenses

In becoming certified or registered you are eligible to apply pesticides as part of your employment. However, your certification/registration does not allow you to legally operate a business where you apply pesticides for hire.  In addition to pesticide applicator credentials, a pesticide application business license is also required to apply pesticides for hire.

Also, check out the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s tool, Michigan Business One Stop, that will help you identify Michigan regulations for any business you want to setup. One of PSEP's own educators used the tool for an example of the requirements for starting a pesticide application business.
