A sad end for a feral honeybee colony
Howard Russell,
Diagnostic Services

Left: Jackie discovered the honeybees during the first week of August. She had little or no choice in the matter; the bees had to go. She asked our friend Tim Moore to assist her in destroying the colony and removing the comb. After treating the outside entrances to the hive, Tim drilled holes from the inside and continued to spray the colony.

Right: Removing a honeybee colony is dangerous work. For a number of reasons honeybees have been known to survive repeated treatments and have attacked those attempting to remove the comb. Tim is shown here preparing for this possibility by donning a full bee suit.
