Extreme conditions prove too much for preemergence herbicides

Soil temperature and soil moisture are both required for crabgrass germination. Dry weather in May 2005 followed by sporadic, heavy rains in June and July of 2005 have contributed to the wholesale failures of many well-timed preemergence applications.
